Growing crops
Proposed production of food and oxygen through vegetation.
Mars Life Care System
A Puerto Rican team proposed connected ecological domes to explore food, oxygen and circular resource management on Mars.

01 · The challenge
The 2023 challenge asked how six people could survive for two years on Mars. M.L.C.S. focused on food production and the environmental conditions of a habitat.
02 · The solution
The project proposes domes with complementary functions. The original page describes an ecological proposal; it does not document an operational facility on Mars.
Proposed production of food and oxygen through vegetation.
Water recycling, waste management, and temperature and humidity control.
Proposed study of soil conditions and ecosystem viability.
The design brings food, environmental conditions and resource use into a single habitat proposal.

03 · Earth-Back Thinking
The Mars–Earth connection lies in learning to produce and recover resources when the environment demands that every cycle counts.
Explore a habitat with plant production and less reliance on external supplies.
Investigate models for dry regions, disaster recovery and environmental education.
Potential applications described by the team, rather than measured impact outcomes.
Historical project · 2023 edition
The team’s conceptual vision combines education, science and sustainability to imagine living models for different contexts.
04 · Puerto Rico
