The 'Reto a Marte' program, developed in Getafe, aims to inspire young people towards careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) by fostering teamwork and project-based learning. In the edition highlighted, over 150 students participated across 25 teams presenting proposals related to space exploration. Elena Igelmo and her partner David earned a special mention in the evaluation phase held at the Local Employment and Training Agency (ALEF) in Getafe, acknowledging their project's merit. Their recognition included a prize of visiting the facilities of NASA, the U.S. space agency. Elena has already completed her stay at NASA, where she engaged in educational activities alongside international students and observed the work processes of technical teams and engineers at the space center. David is slated to undertake his visit during the next scheduled round of the challenge, though specific dates are not provided. While the program highlights these enriching experiences and local engagement, details about the specific criteria for awards or the broader impact of the initiative remain unspecified.
