The Mars Challenge, organized by Virtual Educa, will host its international final from November 3 to 5, 2026, in Getafe, Spain, featuring 139 young competitors representing eight nations. The competition centers on investigating sustainable ways to inhabit Mars, framing the Red Planet as a laboratory to conceive ideas that also address terrestrial problems. This dual-purpose educational challenge is guided by the Earth-Back Thinking methodology, which involves analyzing problems from the constraints and environments of Mars to inspire innovations transferable to Earth's context. While the initiative fosters critical and scientific thinking among youth, it focuses on generating conceptual solutions rather than delivering validated technologies. This confluence of international talent at Getafe highlights emerging global interest in space-related problem-solving with practical impacts on Earth.
