Getafe brought together twelve teams for the national stage of Mars Challenge
ALEF Getafe hosted a day in which secondary-school and university students presented and defended their projects before a multidisciplinary jury.

According to information published by ALEF on 22 July 2026, twelve teams participated from the José Hierro, Altaír, Laguna de Joatzel, Antonio López and Satafi secondary schools, together with Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Following several weeks of preparation, the teams presented proposals related to sustainability and the challenges of space exploration, with potential applications on Earth.
The jury selected five finalist teams. First place went to Hexágono Circular from IES Antonio López, identified by ALEF as Spain’s representative for the 2026 international final.
The initiative was supported by the Ayuntamiento de Getafe through Education, ALEF and GISA, in collaboration with Virtual Educa.
An experience connected to real problems
The case illustrates activities within Mars Challenge, known in Spanish as Reto Marte: developing a proposal as a team, explaining decisions and defending the proposal before others. The news report documents that the experience took place; it provides no measurements that establish educational improvement or causal impact.
